DIRECTIONS TO REHEARSAL AUDITORIUM

Rehearsals begin February 14 at 7 pm.  Victor Klimash says that you are quite welcome to come that date if you would like to do so.  Octavo Singers earlier announced the first rehearsal as being on February 28, the day after the second library concert, but if you are not singing that concert, why not come earlier?

The north side of the Union College campus is bounded by Nott Street.  From Nott Street, enter the campus at North Terrace Lane (called Terrace Lane by Google) across from Geppetto's Restaurant.  I have been told that there is no street sign at the entrance.   Since your first time looking for this entrance will probably be in the dark, I have provided some photos to aid you.  You can see the parking lot to the right of the entrance.

On the following map, the parking lot is marked with a red P.  If you are approaching from the east, there is a similar entrance at Van Vranken Ave.  Go past it.

After turning into Terrace Lane, make a right into the lot and park.  Walk along buildings 52 &75/63.  Turn left and walk to the center of the building numbered 32 which is the Taylor Music Center (handicap accessible).  There are several entrances, but the one we want has a stand-alone sign near the door.  Enter, then go straight into the auditorium where rehearsals will be held.

PURCHASE SCORES

If you were to continue walking along bldg 32, you will pass bldg 4 and reach bldg 42 which is the Reamer Campus Centre.  Victor Klimash has arranged for the Brahms Requiem scores to be available for purchase in the convenience store in that building (rather than at the bookstore which closes at 4:30 pm).  There is an entrance on the side of building 42 which faces 32 & 4.  Enter there and turn right into the convenience store.  Price including tax is $17.30.  It is the Peters Edition, not the Schirmer which we have used in the past.

Another option is to call the VanCurler Music Store (374-5318) in the Proctors Theatre Arcade.  They have ordered a few copies of the Peters Edition and will order more if you reserve one ($13.99 including tax).  Alternately, you can order online from them at http://www.svcmusic.com using a credit card or PayPal.  Click on Choral (left margin), then select the "Edition Peters" of the score by clicking "Add to Cart".  The Shopping Cart will open up.  If you order online, they will hold it for you or mail it to you (shipping fee uncertain, but about $4.50).

CONCERT AT UNION COLLEGE MEMORIAL CHAPEL ( 8 pm Friday, May 20, 2011 )

On the right side of the map below is Union Street.  Cars can enter Library Lane at the Payne Gate (36).  Union College Memorial Chapel (bldg 30) is on the right at the end of that street.  Octavo Singers has sung Handel's Messiah there many times over the years, including last December, so most of you will be familiar with the building and its location.

A short distance along Library Lane from Union Street you will encounter a cross street which has four parking lots, one large.  Park, then walk to the Memorial Chapel.
